Desperate for a cure for ringing ears? Did you know that only 3% - 5 % of people with tinnitus (ringing ears) ever get complete relief from their symptoms? Here, you'll discover why this figure may be so low, but, how you can join them and relieve your ringing in the ears symptoms.

So, is there a cure for ringing ears? Well, there is no proven medical cure so far. But, a small minority have been able to cure their tinnitus, so it must be possible to arrive at a cure for ringing ears, right? To understand why this might be so, it's best to have a quick look at just what tinnitus (ringing in the ears) is, its causes and how it is treated conventionally...

The ringing in the ears that you hear is a sign of tinnitus. But tinnitus isn't a disease or a condition, it's the actual symptom of some underlying condition or problem that you have. This is an important distinction, because it means that in order to cure your tinnitus we first need to pinpoint its exact cause.

What we do know is that ringing in ears can be caused by a whole host of problems such as, impacted ear wax, sinus problems, hypertension, stress, age-related hearing loss, noise-damaged hearing, meniere's disease, some drug therapy, head or neck trauma, otosclerosis, blocked eustachian tube, inner ear infections, and more.

And although we can generally refer to tinnitus as 'ringing ears', the fact is that there are many different sounds that tinnitus victims hear, such as whooshing, roaring, clicking, ticking, hissing, sizzling, etc. It is believed that the type of sound one hears is directly related to the underlying cause.

So, if we know all this, how come there are so few cures for tinnitus? Well, a couple of reasons spring to mind: First, some underlying problems cannot be cured one hundred percent. And secondly, it can be very difficult to diagnose the actual underlying cause in the first place. There is a statistic that I've come across that shows that some 43% of sufferers with ringing ears had no obvious cause for their symptoms.

Another reason why the number could be so low is that much of the conventional treatment is through drug-based medications such as antidepressants, anticonvulsants, antihistamines, cardiovascular, and intravenous lidocaine, etc., which try to 'manage' the underlying issue(s) whilst being taken. These aren't guaranteed, and as many of these have negative side effects, many subjects just come off them.

And apart from the drugs, conventional treatment also includes things like the use of hearing aids, noise maskers, feedback therapy, etc. But, again, these can only help to 'manage' the situation, they can't actually cure the ringing ears.

Because of the inability of mainstream treatment to cure ringing ears in the vast majority of people, there is an ever-growing number of tinnitus sufferers who are turning to more natural ways to cure their ears ringing.

Some try herbal remedies that use herbs such as ginkgo-biloba, burdock root, etc. Others use complimentary treatments such as yoga, meditation, acupuncture, hypnosis, etc. And of course there is homeopathic medicine, dietary and lifestyle adjustments, natural supplements, stress-reducing exercises, exercises to reduce hypertension, caffeine and alcohol reduction, and so on.

The problem with focussing on just one type of natural treatment is that unless it actually addresses the underlying problem, then it cannot succeed. And what about where the underlying problem cannot be identified? How is it possible to select the correct treatment?

This is where, as in many health issues, a totally holistic approach to curing ringing ears can give the best chance of eliminating tinnitus completely. By using a multi-pronged approach, utilizing a wide range of natural treatment options, you should be able to seriously increase your prospects of a cure for ringing in the ears...
