Writing a letter to credit bureaus can be a real drag. Something about these bureaus has a way of making you feel small and meaningless while they seem so grand and important. You shutter with intimidation at the mere thought of addressing these larger than life credit bureaus. You would imagine that they could swallow you alive with one resounding “NO!” Let you explain it, you are forever and will forever remain at the mercy of these credit bureaus unless something gives. A little advice to you: relax.

The first thing that you should know about writing a letter to credit bureaus is that you are not writing asking any favors so a “no” is the very least of your concern. You are writing to rectify a situation and right a wrong and you should stand being your reasons for writing with a confidence and assurance that renders all fear of credit bureaus unnecessary.

You™d be relieved to know that this letter you are attempting to write is easy, especially when you have proof and facts to back your letter. Aim for your letter to be polite and factual matched with a tone of sternness and know-how and you™ll be well on your way to getting your dispute or inquire resolved. Most often than not we write letters to credit bureaus to dispute debts on our reports, to question when a particular bureaus report doesn™t quite simulate another bureaus, to repair credit, or because we™ve recently been turned down for a line of credit and would like answers.

Understand that these credit bureaus have heard it all before so taking care of your issue should be a breeze. Credit bureaus must, by law, address all inquires that come across their tables so have no fear that you will be overlooked. Since there is a guarantee that your letter will be examined you must be for certain that your letter is as thoroughly, informative and as concise as possible.

For starters, you want to be sure to send your letter to the correct bureaus address (see below):

Equifax " P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374
1-800-685-1111

Experian " P.O. Box 2002
Allen, TX 75013
1 888 397 3742

TransUnion " P.O. Box 1000
Chester, PA 19022
1-800-888-4213

Format the letter professionally with your name and address as well as the specified bureau™s contact information and the date at the top of the letter. For example:

Your Name
123 Your Street Address
Your City, ST 01234

The Credit Bureau
Bureau Address
Anytown, State 56789

Date

The body of the letter should fully state your need. Be specific, state all relevant details and ask for precisely what it is you™d like in return from the bureaus.

Consider closing your letter with:

Sincerely,

your signature

Your Name
SSN# 123-45-6789

Be sure to add any additional documentation that may assist the bureau on making the correct decision regarding your case.
