Google Reveals Online Magazine

Google is on to something new…again. This time they™ve surprised many and have now launched a full-length online magazine! Not just any magazine, however, Google has launched a 68-page zine that will focus on the world of data and its impact on business. Not sure if that teaser sends you running to the website but honestly it doesn™t make me budge an inch. Those of you who are true techies (I™m assuming that™s the niche here) may enjoy this magazine, based out of the U.K., as it is full of thorough and in-depth writings kind of similar to the writings that may be found in more technical publications.

This magazine is called Think Quarterly and branches out from the email newsletters, updates on Google™s official blogs and printed materials that extend from Google™s already existing communications. This online magazine, which Google insist on referring to as a book and a “unique communications tool,” is visually impeccable and equipped with an online interface that is certainly engaging to those with targeted interest.

According to Google managing director, Matt Brittin “At Google, we often think that speed is the forgotten ‘killer application™ " the ingredient that can differentiate winners from the rest but in a world of accelerating change, we all need time to reflect. Think Quarterly is a breathing space in a busy world. It™s a place to take time out and consider what™s happening and why it matters.”

I recently afforded myself the opportunity to check out Think Quarterly at http://thinkquarterly.co.uk/. Upon visiting the site I noticed that my eyes began to glaze over and my mind wondered into a far off land. This was quite the indicator that this is probably not the site for me. I snapped out of it for a second and convinced my mind to focus in on the content. One key point on the home page stuck out it me. It read: Think Quarterly remains firmly aimed at Google™s partners and advertisers, if you™re interested in the subject of data then please feel free to read on…Ah, makes perfect since. I™m neither of these things and data is the least of my concern, hence why the site had no appeal and my brain neglected to process site information. Google even issued a disclaimer beforehand implying that this “book” may be out of my realm. “There are only a limited number of copies, and they aren™t for sale or designed for anyone other than our partners " but anyone who™s interested can visit the companion website.”

For those of you that are into this sort of thing I™m thinking it™s safe to say that you will be pleased. It appears to me that staying on top of what™s current and changing in the world of data as stated my Think Quarterly will keep you on the cutting edge of the industry. The next issue drops in May so be on the lookout. If you™re interest is peaked and you need updates now feel free to follow ThinkQuarterly on Twitter. Thank me, techies, this one™s for you!
