Ways to Treat Stevens Johnson Syndrome

Stevens Johnson syndrome is possibly the deadliest of skin disease, which persists due to the prolonged use of medication or drugs that cause acute skin reactions. This chronic skin disease is the most painful and distressing skin disorder, which if not treated effectively by the sufferer can put them under problem lately.

The prolonged use of some of these harmful drugs such as Allopurinol, Phenytoin, Carbamazepine, barbiturates and sulfa antibiotics attributes to the bacterial infections on the skin. The main cause of this syndrome is basically the acute skin irritation or reaction caused by the use of any prolonged harmful drug. This disease can affect the person of any age group depending upon their intake of drugs associated to any chronic disease, which collectively creates even more risk for the sufferer as it can cause the Steven Johnson syndrome.

4.The sufferer goes through major fluid and salt quantity that sweeps out of the body. The sufferer is suspicious to organ failure and death.

Some of the treatments of Steven Johnson Syndrome are as follows:

1.Sufferer of the disease is immediately hospitalized when the symptoms start showing. Any drug suspected to be prolonged used by the sufferer is discontinued, while the appropriate treatment is initiated in the burn unit and is given the intense care. If the person survives the treatment, he recovers as the skin grows after that.

2.The lost of fluid is replaced to the body of the sufferer and oral hygiene is given to prevent super infection. Examination by an ophthalmologist is recommended for patients with eye lesions so that precautions can be taken to avoid permanent eye damage.

3.Oral and topical corticosteroids are typically used to treat the sufferer of syndrome.

In complex cases, doctors give human immunoglobulin to treat Steven Johnson Syndrome. The substance prevents any further immune damage to the skin of the sufferer and further progressing with damaging blisters.
