Top 7 Things to Change in Your Custom Brochures

If you are new to custom brochure printing, the most obvious thing that you would be using are brochure printing templates. However, this can be a bust as well as a boon since beginners tend to let the template do "too much" of the design work. If you want your brochure printing to turn out more original looking and fresh, you should try to customize as much of the different aspects of the template as possible.
If you do not know exactly where to start, this article should be your guide. I am going to teach you here the top seven things to change in your custom brochure printing. Let us start with the most basic things.

1. The font styles – In a lot of cases, brochure templates already have pre-set fonts to feature the formatting styles of the template itself. Your first step in customization would be to change this of course and use font styles that are a lot more adapted to your theme. In fact, I recommend that you actually try to get fresher and newer fonts that are available for free online. The newer the fonts, the more likely your brochure designs will look more distinct from the old templates.

2. The image and image placement – The next thing to change in your custom brochure printing to make things more customized are the images and the image placement. Of course, you will want your own images to be deployed in your design. Make sure of course that you put in something that is your own original work or photograph. Change the placement or size of the image if necessary so that you do not copy the template too much. Of course, try to balance it out as much as possible with the text content.

3. The margins and guides – You should also change some of the margins and guides that you find in the template. I have seen that most brochure templates have margins that might be too thick or sometimes margins that are actually non-existent. So adjust or add the important margins and guides that you need for your own color brochure design.

4. The layout blocking – To make things totally different and customized, one of your priority changes from the brochure template is the layout blocking. You do not have to be a slave to the fixed text and image locations in the template. Always adjust the paragraph margins, line spacing, indents, and other formatting settings to fit your own content. It pays to really refine those layouts and spaces right for a more cohesive and professional color brochure design.

5. The dimensions – You might also want to customize the dimensions. While most brochure templates sport the standard dimensions for brochure printing, your own creative ideas might need brochures that are a little bit larger or smaller. In those cases, you will really want to extend the dimensions a bit to make sure that ALL the important design elements can fit your color brochures.

6. The folds – The standard brochure template will probably be using a trifold brochure format. If you want to actually innovate and move away from that standard setting, then the simplest thing to do is to just use another type of fold. Maybe you can try a Gatefold or a Z fold to add a little bit of difference and freshness in your brochure design.

7. The material recommendations – Lastly, you should customize the material recommendations on those brochure templates. While standard paper for brochure printing is nice, you can get a lot more readers by actually customizing your choice materials and going for the glossy ones. The glossier these prints are the more professional looking and potent they will be.

Great! Now you know the different types of design elements that you will want to change to make a truly customized color brochure. Why don't you try this out in your brochure printing?
