I have seen a lot of these cases before. You might have had a lot of very powerful and successful brochure templates in the past, only to slip and go down to mediocre style brochure printing right now in the present. Don't worry this happens to the best of us when it comes to brochure printing and marketing. Sometimes we do just get complacent and not really plan on innovating and improving.
Right now however, if you want to stay competitive with your marketing efforts with color brochures it is prudent that you try and rekindle the power of your past brochures. Let me help you by giving you tips on how to improve and refresh your old custom brochure designs anew. Just follow the five tips below.

1. Change the brochure template and fold – While those brochure templates worked well in the past, by today's standards, it is more likely that those templates look very basic, simple or even unstylish already. So to get your custom brochure design back on track to greatness, you should try to change the brochure template itself and fold. Use something that is more "current" and popular if possible, while at the same time still maintaining some key features that you want from your old design.
2. Switch to more "modern" font styles – Another important thing to do to rekindle that power of your color brochures is to switch to more modern font styles. While your past brochure printing might have looked great with their special fonts, today those fonts will probably look "old" or "dated" which most people won't pay attention to. So browse through the free font directories online and try to pick and switch to some of the newer and fresher modern font styles out there.
3. Retake your photographs and re-draw graphics – You should also of course take a new look at your brochure images and probably recreate them if necessary. The quality of design images in the past cannot really be compared to the quality of the visual print medium today.
So to make those color brochures become powerful again, it is a good idea to retake some photographs and re-draw some of your graphics. Make sure that the digital camera you will be using is a high performance tool that can capture high resolution images. Also, your graphics design software should be a fully featured application just like Photoshop. The better you can recreate those graphics, the more you can rekindle that past power of your brochures.
4. Preserve and enhance the distinctive qualities of your past brochures – Of course, since you are trying to rekindle that past power and impact, do not forget to try and preserve and enhance the distinctive qualities of your past brochures. Were your brochures powerful because of their headline? Maybe their images were irresistible? Maybe it had some special printing feature or configuration? Make sure that you look for that distinctive element and preserve that in your new version of this brochure printing.
5. Use more high quality materials – Finally, as the icing on the cake so to speak, you should improve your past brochures by using more high quality materials. The thicker and glossier the paper materials get, the better for your brochures. High quality brochure printing always illicit the best reactions and impact on people, so if you can spend on quality, you should try to do so.
So what are you waiting for? Rekindle the power of your past color brochures. Use these tips to create modern, distinctive and powerful full color brochures based on your past ones. Good Luck!
