Every business aims to carry out a marketing plan that fits their goal. Although some are willing to spend a considerable amount of money to carry out their marketing campaign, those who are on a tight budget may find it tough to come up with a decent campaign. But there is no need to worry as there are low cost marketing materials that you can use to promote your business effectively without spending a fortune. One good example of that are the business cards.

Who says the good old business card is obsolete? Well, believe it or not these old-school cards are still among the most indispensable material every business should have. A bit of a history

The business card actually dates back to the 15th century. They were once called visiting cards in China where they are became a basic in attending social conventions. Over the years, these cards were adapted in other countries and have been widely used since then.

Today, a business would not be complete without these cards. The art of introducing yourself to prospective customers now heavily relies on a well designed card. These cards will serve as your link to your customers as you convey your business to them.

The design process

In most cases, the design of your cards affects their success. This is why it is important that you design your cards based on your business and your target market. You need to make sure that you incorporate elements in your card that generates instant connection with your customers. You have to build your design around them. Of course, you have to make sure that your cards contain all the pertinent contact details such as your name, contact number, email address, and web site.

Keep in mind that there are two sides in your cards. If you need more room to include additional details, use the back side of your cards. You can put additional information or add something valuable on it.

Adding value to your card

Give your customers a reason to hold on to your cards. This can include one of the following:

• A coupon printed at the back such as a buy one get one feature.

• You can also design the back as a loyalty card that will stay in your customers' wallet for a long time.

• A calendar that your customers can refer to throughout the year.

• A list of emergency numbers in your locality.

• A discount card at the back to ensure people keeps your card.

By doing this, you can be sure that people will be reminded of you as they frequently see your card in their wallet. This in turn can help make your customers loyalty to your business.

Let your cards work

It's important that you always your cards with you ready to be handed out when you meet potential customers. Keep a handful in your briefcase, pocket, wallet, and in your card. When attending meetings or having coffee with friends, take advantage of every opportunity to give out your cards. But remember that you need to create attractive and eye-catching business card templates so people will be attracted to your cards.
