Make your Business Card Work Hard for your Business

When you are in business, it is important that you share your business cards to your target customers. You need to hand them out in several events such as business gatherings, casual events, trade shows, business conventions and many others. Business cards can actually do a great job in encouraging repeat sales and in assisting customers keep your business' contact information in their mind.

Initially, the main purpose of your business card is to share your contact details to others, but it can also serve as a strong tool in promoting your business and maintaining your sales goals. From the design elements, to the text and even the card paper used, every feature of your business card will serve a great deal in creating a strong image for your business. Definitely, a small card stuff with too much information will give you a poor impression, but a well designed card will surely give you unexpected results.

Keep in mind that your business card is your business ambassador. It is what you leave with your target customers after you make a connection with them. But is your business card working hard for your business?

There are two tests you can do to evaluate the impact of your business card: the bulletin board and billboard tests.

Bulletin board test. To do this, get the business cards of competitors and place them on a bulletin board next to your card. Now, does your card stand out among your competitors?

Billboard test. Billboards actually only get read for a few seconds. After all, when you are speeding at 60kph, the most you'll read is only 5 or 6 words. This is the same with business cards. People only have a few seconds to read your card and decide whether to keep your card or throw it away. This is why it is important that your business card work as hard as a billboard.

Here are some tips to make your business card work hard for your business:

Build your business brand. This means that the weight of the paper you use, the font style, and the colors all help deliver your message and your brand. To do this:

o Print your name in bold font to make it stand out, and as much as possible your card to make a personal connection with your target customers.

o Select a font that reflects the nature of your business. For instance, if you financial manager or executive, use a serif font as it creates the right image for you.

o Be sure to include your logo on your business card templates.

o You can also consider including a professional photo of your in your card. Your picture can basically help create a personal connection with your prospects and help them remember who you long after your conversation or meeting.

Contact information. Make it easy for your prospects to contact you. As much as possible, don't litter your card with too many details. Leave enough white space to make your cards easy to understand.

o Don't forget to put your website, email address and phone numbers.

o You can also put your social media accounts in your card such as your LinkedIn and Facebook accounts.

o Include your street address if you want people go to your store.

Call to action. Be sure that your business card is a catalyst for taking action. Offer a strong call to action in your card by offering freebies and special promos.
