Making Your Tan Last Longer

Once you have attained that tan that you have been longing for since winter, you can keep your tan for a longer period of time and just have fun with it. There are some common tips on how to make your tan last longer. These have been proven by regular tanners and it is hoped that you will also gain something from this article. Just dont over tan yourself as this would be dangerous for your skin. Once you have the right amount of tanning for you, avoid extreme or prolonged exposure to the sun. Use a sun protector like hats, umbrella and even shades for the eyes.

Here are some of the basic tips on how to make that tan last longer.

1. Use moisturizers – Moisturizers prevent skin dryness. Select a moisturizer with high oil content. This will also prevent early skin peeling and minimizes any peeling which might occur. One good hydrating agent is coconut butter. It is best used together with aloe vera as ingredients in moisturizing lotion.

2. Avoid harsh soap – Make sure to skip first your exfoliating or papaya soap. At this time, you dont want to get rid of your tan. Therefore, use baby mild soap or moisturizing soap instead.

3. Eat foods rich in beta carotene – Beta carotene is an anti-oxidant which helps reduce damage on skin as a result of the skins exposure to the sun. You can protect your tan from early loss by eating orange colored fruits and vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, papaya, melons, etc. Cabbage and kale are also great sources of beta carotene.

4. Use tan extending products – There are commercial aids to make your tan last longer. These are tan extending products and have been proven to be safe for use. Simply rub it on like lotion. These products also safeguard your skin from further sun damage after you have tanned.

5. Splurge on after sun care products – These are creams and moisturizers that aim to hydrate, soothe, refresh, and prolong skin tan. It may contain any of the following ingredients: chamomile, aloe vera, alantoine, vitamins C, F, and E, panthenol, and other soothing or hydrating ingredients.

It is advantageous to make your tan last longer as this will prevent you from successively undergoing a tanning session which is harmful for your skin. Being tanned will highlight your profile when you stand out in the crowd with your tanned skin. Therefore, try to make your tan last longer because it deserves to last.
