Using PPC to Increase Site Traffic

A pay per click (PPC) campaign is designed to increase site traffic. If properly executed, it can dramatically increase your sites conversions and productivity. While a PPC campaign is designed to increase site traffic, what’s the point of all that extra traffic if none of it turns into conversions? Conversions happen when someone who visits your site does something you want them to do – like buying a product, setting an appointment, or signing up for and email newsletter. If your PPC campaign isn’t properly executed, you may still get lots of site traffic, but no additional business from it. So, how do you properly execute a PPC campaign so that it increases your site traffic and provides you with quality conversions?

First, you’ll need to do a fair amount of keyword research. Say, for example, you run a veterinary practice and you want to use a PPC campaign to drive traffic to your site. Without knowing precisely what your clients are searching for, how will you meet their needs with your PPC campaign? You could use words like “animal medicine” or “vaccination services” when they’re searching for “pet care” or “Miami veterinarians.” Animal medicine and vaccination services are relevant terms, however if they aren’t what your potential clients are using to find you, then you won’t be found.

Second, you’ll need to implement those terms throughout your landing pages, and keep a cohesive loop where your PPC campaign is concerned. This means your PPC ads must contain the proper keywords, and then those keywords must be implemented within your landing pages, then those landing pages must be filled with relevant content that refers back to the keywords used within your PPC ads. Again, you must fill the need that your potential clients are providing you. If you advertise you offer services for horses and that ad links to a page about cat care, users are going to get irritated and leave your page before you can get a conversion out of them.

In keeping with the loop, you should also fulfill any promises you make in your PPC ads within the content of your landing pages. If you offer a full round of vaccines for less than $50 in your ad, make it a reality on the subsequent landing page, or you’ll lose your conversion, and thus any chance at additional business for your company.

You will also need to maintain your PPC campaign. It’s not a set-it-and-forget-it kind of deal. People are constantly evolving the way they search for information, and knowing that, you will also need to constantly evolve your PPC campaign.
