Add Your Own Twist in Card Printing

There are countless ways on how you can improve the appearance of a traditional greeting card. If you are tired of the usual top/side fold card with an inside spread, you may want to incorporate simple design elements or mechanisms. Sound, pop outs or embellishments can make your greeting cards more dynamic and attractive. Card printing does not have to be a bore. With a little creativity, you can make your custom greeting cards as attractive as those available in supply stores. Without a doubt, your card printing efforts will be highly appreciated by your recipients.

If you are up for any design challenge, you may want to consider the following design twists in card printing.

• Make the photo 3-D

The mention of the term 3-D already connotes complexity. Do not worry though. Card printing the 3-D way can be easy as 1-2-3! 3-D card printing is not that hard to follow. In fact, you can do this on your own without any difficulty. The first step in 3-D card printing is choosing a photograph that you will place in the cover. Place the photograph on your document template which has been set vertically and on a side-fold card layout. Print the first copy on photo paper or any paper you use in card printing. Set the printed copy aside. Print another copy of the photograph using a different paper type, such as satin or matte. Cut the design elements of the photograph which you want to have a 3-D effect. Put foam squares under and place it over the other printed copy of the photograph. See, the process isn’t that difficult.

• Put flaps or windows

Recipients can pull parts of the greeting cards, revealing additional parts or messages. Likewise, you can use windows which can also conceal or reveal specific parts of the greeting card. Putting these elements may, on the onset, look hard to pull off. However, with experimentation as well as practice, you can include these optional greeting card parts in a seamless way.

• Add embellishments

Embellishments, such as glitters and ribbons, can enhance the appearance of your greeting cards. On the get go though, you need to define how you want your greeting card to look like. Creating the design template would not be that difficult if you already know what other external elements you need to incorporate. Make sure though that the embellishments work well with the overall design of your greeting cards. Otherwise, you may not achieve the desired result.

• Color elements using a marker.

Printed greeting cards already look nice. Extra steps can make it more special though. One of the ways to make card printing more attractive is by using a metallic marker. Use a gold metallic marker in enhancing the white design on an image as well as on a text. You can ace this detailed process without any hitch by using a magnifying glass. Take time to experiment how you can further improve your card printing by using metallic markers which come in different colors.

• Incorporate sound

Making greeting cards for kids and young adults necessitate the use of dynamic elements. These include sound, which would be a pleasant surprise for a kid who opens a greeting card. Incorporating sound makes use of simple mechanisms. Familiarize yourself with how these mechanisms work through the use of tutorials available over the internet.
