Greeting cards come in different sizes, shapes, and designs. The traditional greeting cards have an image – a photograph, an illustration, or a graphic design – on the front. It is usually rectangular or square shaped. The inside of the greeting card has a written message which may have accompanying design elements. Aside from the traditional greeting cards, there are also picture greeting cards. As the name implies, the card has a packet where you can insert your recent family picture. This innovative greeting card is a hit among families as well as group of friends. Of course, who can forget musical greeting cards? Every one, for sure, has received this dynamic greeting card from friends, cousins, or grandparents. This dynamic greeting card is surely a pleasant surprise from your mail.

Another inventive type of greeting card is the 3-D. Young and old alike enjoys getting 3-D which gives a unique perspective to an image. Take a look at the greeting card on either side, from the top or bottom view, and you will be offered with a different view. Have you ever wondered how some photographs look like 3-D? Well, there are simple techniques in making photographs pop. The trick is printing the page twice, making two layers of photographs on top of each other. You can carry-out 3-D greeting card printing by following these instructions.

1. Make use of a software application in 3-D greeting card printing.

Check your computer if it has a Serif DrawPlus 4.0 software. If not, you can download the software over the internet. Open the software and select a vertical card layout with side fold. Then, include a photograph on the front. Make sure that it fills the entire space. Print the card on a greeting card paper or photo paper. Cut the edges, if necessary. The next step is print another copy of your photograph. You can make use of the same paper type or on another, such as satin, matte, or glossy.

2. Cut out the elements that you want to have a 3-D effect on.

Carefully crop the design elements of the second photo using a craft knife or a pair of scissors. You can choose only one design element, but you can also make use of two or more.

3. Place foam squares on the back of the cut out design elements.

At the back of the cut outs, put foam squares. These foam squares have adhesives which make them easy to stick. You can make use of foam squares that are shaped like your cut outs. Or you can cut small-sized portions for easy placement.

4. Attach the design cut out to your photo card.

Make sure that the cut out is on top of the photo card. You can cut two or more of the same design element, so that you can have spare copies.

3-D greeting card printing can be easy. You do not have to buy greeting cards in 3-D from your favourite supply store. You can customize the look of your greeting card and, at the same time, exercise your imagination and creativity. As the saying goes, practice makes things perfect. If, for the first time, you may not have achieved your desired look, do not fret. You can make another greeting card until you become an expert in 3-D greeting card printing.
