Let’s say you were looking for a fresh and new marketing medium to promote your business when all of sudden someone sent you a post card. The card was about a promotional offer of a certain furniture business. The offer looked good and tempting you were almost enticed to pick up the phone and call the shop.
If the post card was able to make a seemingly simple offer so motivating, you could do the same to your business. The card looked easy and economical to do, so you don’t really have to be an expert in the advertising sector to create effective postcards.

But before you go ahead with your post card marketing campaign, there are considerations you need to think about. For one, you need to understand how the medium works and recognize that there are some limitations associated to post cards. If you think that one time mass mailing of these cards would easily result in high sales, then you need to think again. Things don’t actually work that way. If you desire to stay in business for long, then you need to continuously send cards to keep your business on top of your customer’s mind.
Marketing, after all, is all about repetition and getting your name recognized and remembered. This is what we refer to as branding. Just take a look at television commercials. You see them a lot of times all throughout the day. This is a perfect example of effective advertising and branding.
So it’s safe to say that the more your customers see your name and your message, the easier it is for them to remember you.
How post card works? This is actually easy. You simply create a promotional offer on your card. This can be in the form of images, graphics or texts. Then you simply insert the mailing address in each card and have it sent at once. If you don’t have a mailing list yet, you should do this before your design and print your postcard printing. Keep in mind that you have to design your card based on your target customers, so do the list first before anything else.
If you send your card over and over again, your customers will remember you much easily and you can be sure that your customer base will increase.
Mailing list options
When it comes to your mailing list, you need to first identify your target market. Identify their demographics and what their needs and wants are. Aside from creating your own list, you can also buy or rent mailing lists. There are companies that sell mailing lists of different demographics and organizations. Be sure though that when buying or renting a list it is applicable to your target market.
There are limitations though to post card marketing. Even if you send 500 or 5000 cards, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will get instant buyers. People who respond to your ad only reveals that they have interest in your offer and are interested to take the next step in the buying process.
You are probably saying now that your campaign was a failure. The truth is you are right on target. Just do it right and send out your cards regularly, and you will surely increase your chance of getting profitable customers.
