Better Search Engine Rankings

Achieving better search engine rankings can help your business’s productivity increase exponentially. Most users go on the internet to use search– to find information about something or do research. Those same users are paging through that information less and less. Through the advent of Google’s suggested search and instant preview, users are getting what they need on the first page of a search index. So, if your company falls on the tenth page or even lower, you’re not going to get clicked on, you’re not going to get seen, and your productivity is going to tank.

So, how can you climb to the top of a Google search index? By implementing a search engine optimization (SEO) strategy. SEO helps your business’s visibility when it comes to a Google search index, which is vital to your internet campaign. It does this through four basic principles that must be properly executed in order to be successful.

Keyword Research is the meat and potatoes of SEO and achieving better search engine rankings. It involves diving into what specific terms your potential clients are using to conduct a search. Knowing these key terms helps you to understand the need of your users, and then fill that need through informative, unique content that has those keywords implemented throughout.

Onsite optimization not only involves making your site visually attractive, but it involves making sure you have a static URL, as well as focusing on your htaccess settings, your meta information, and your 301 redirects. It basically involves making sure that you keep people on your site once you get them there.

Offsite optimization is how you get them there. Things like social media, backlinking through blog commenting, and other linking methods. These techniques help your site gain visibility and drive traffic to your site.

Conversion optimization is an analysis of data so that you can make the most of the users you do get to your site. Conversions happen when a user does something you designed your site for – i.e. sign up for an email newsletter, generate a lead, give you a sale, or even just stay on the site for more than 5 minutes. Conversion optimization analyzes when people leave, why they didn’t follow your site through to a sale, and so forth, so that you can make the appropriate changes and achieve more conversions.

As you can see, SEO is fairly complex and in fact, it’s very time consuming. A properly implemented SEO strategy takes months to see results from. It’s multifaceted, and requires fine tuning of each part in order to be successful. It’s not for the faint of heart. If your business isn’t willing to put in the time, effort and finances it takes to properly execute then don’t bother even considering it. Because, if you’re not all in so-to-speak with your SEO strategy, you’ll lose the game.
