Zambia Tanzania – Is it worth going on safari in Zambia and Tanzania on same trip?

Zambia and Tanzania can relatively easily be visited in the same trip to Africa. One way to do this is via the railroad, but it can also be done by car and sometimes airline flights. Part of whether it is worth going on safari in both countries depends on the time you have for your Africa trip. Traveling between the countries will add at least an extra day of travel time to your trip that could otherwise be spent on safari, but if you really want to visit Zambia is does go well with a visit to Tanzania. The other way around maybe not so much, as Tanzania tends to have more different things to do.

The kind of safari you want to go on will also make a difference in whether it makes sense to opt for visiting both Zambia and Tanzania or just one or the other. For example, if you are interested in night drive safaris Zambia is a better choice, because night safaris are not allowed inside the National Parks in Tanzania. Tanzania is good if you want to take in several different national parks, as there are a number of national parks near each other, especially in the northern circuit. Zambia is also where the concept of walking safaris got its start, although there are increasing places elsewhere to take part in walking safaris including from some lodges just outside some of Tanzania’s national parks. Horse back riding has also begun to be a way of going on safari in Tanzania, but not Zambia. However, Zambia is known for being a good place to try out an elephant ride safari.

To some extent Zambia has more different styles of going on safari, but Tanzania has more places to go on safari. Tanzania is very worthwhile to add on to a Zambia safari trip. For one, it allows for more safari experiences. Also, Tanzania has other activities to enjoy that Zambia does not. One of the main things also visiting Tanzania allows for is some time enjoying the beach on the coast of Tanzania or on the island of Zanzibar. When visiting the coastal parts of Tanzania you get to also enjoy the marine wildlife spotting opportunities as part of your vacation. This can be done by taking fishing safaris, whale watching tours, and scuba diving tours.
