First of all, you can start thinking about painting the walls of your kitchen with a different color. If you think that your kitchen is too dark, perhaps because there are not many windows or for any other reason, you could choose a bright color: yellow or orange, for example. Once again the color of tiles is very important, as much as the material they are made of. If you like colors, you could choose mixed colored tiles, but in this case you need to pay even more attention to the colors of furniture and of all the other features of the kitchen, otherwise the room will look like something chaotic.

However, you need to consider that a kitchen is a place where you are supposed to cook, thus it would be better not to choose too expensive and delicate materials, because you will probably need to wash them more often than the curtains of other rooms. This is what happens also for carpets: carpets can certainly make your kitchen look warmer and cozier, but if you put them near the stoves where you cook they might get easily dirty, and if you put them under the table and chairs where you eat they might get ruined. Thus the suggestion is: use carpets in your kitchen, but choose cheap and easy to clean types!
Apart from walls, tiles, curtains and carpets there is still something you can do to decorate your kitchen: for example, you can hang pictures and images that remind you of food, recipes and something like that, choosing a style that you notably like, or if you are in a romantic mood you can put candles here and there. Of course for the kitchen it is better to choose candles with low smoke emissions, and you will also need to pay attention to their scent. Moreover, remember to keep candles off appliances and to put them in low heat areas.
