Tools Used by Beauty School Graduates

There are many different tools used by beauty school graduates—it all depends on what kind of beauty career you end up in. Hairdressing is perhaps the most common beauty career, and there are a variety of tools that must be used in this profession. Hairdressers must be able to cut and style many different types of hair, so they need to be prepared with all the right tools to work on anyone’s hair, no matter who might walk into the salon. Combs, scissors, curlers and blow dryers are just the beginning.

One of the most important tools used by beauty school graduates is the cape that clients wear over their shoulders when they get their hair cut. Since cutting and styling hair can make quite a mess, hairdressers need to protect their clients with a cape. It can prevent loose hairs, dyes, gel and other styling products from getting on the client’s clothes and neck. Then there are the tools used to cut and style hair, starting with professional cutting scissors or sheers and razors. Combs and brushes are the next most important items, including round brushes to blow-dry hair to the perfect style.

Beauty professionals need to use a variety of electric tools as well in order to properly style their client’s hair. There are blow dryers, electric hair curlers, flat irons and hood dryers. The hood dryers are especially important for the stylist. People sit under the hood, which covers their whole head, and little holes distribute the hot air, so it all gets dried at the same time. They are often used when the client has curlers on their head or when they are getting highlights in their hair.

Sinks are necessary for hair styling as well, and you can’t just use any kitchen sink when you’re styling hair. Creating all the latest beautiful styles requires a sink to get the hair wet and to apply shampoo and conditioner before cutting and styling. Stylists can also use spray bottles to get hair wet for cutting without having to shampoo it first.

These are just a few of the most important tools that stylists use during and after beauty school.
