You can avoid gout without having to use drugs. You can actually help prevent gout by making some simple lifestyle changes. Here, I list 7 things you can do in your daily life to help avoid recurring gout causing serious health problems.

Gout symptoms are excruciating as well as preventing you get around freely. Apart from the pain, you often have to take time off work and the social aspects of your life suffer too. Of course, you can take drugs to help get rid of the symptoms, but unless you make some important changes in your life, there is nothing to prevent your gout returning.

And recurring gout must be avoided at all costs because of the serious damage such attacks can cause over time. They can lead to serious permanent joint damage as well as kidney problems like kidney stones that are also very painful. So you should think long and hard about what you need to do to avoid recurring gout attacks in the future.

As I pointed out previously, drug-based medications usually try to reduce inflammation and pain. This doesn't help to prevent gout attacks. There are drugs designed to help lower uric acid levels to try to avoid further gout attacks, but these only work whilst being taken. Once stopped, your gout can return.

But there are many natural ways to avoid gout without going near drugs. As well as utilising herbs, selected fruit, supplements, etc., which can be very effective, there are also several things you can do within your day-to-day life that can help you avoid gout in the future...

1. Drink plenty of water to help your kidneys flush out excess uric acid from your body. Drink at least 3 litres per day.
2. Lose weight if you're overweight. But don't crash diet as this can actually bring on a gout attack!
3. Avoid stress in your life. Learn stress-reducing exercises and techniques.
4. Take daily exercise to help keep joints in good condition.
5. Avoid foods high in purines, e.g., meat, poultry, fish, etc.
6. Eat 30 to 40 cherries per day. If you can't get cherries get concentrated cherry juice from your local health food store.
7. Take recommended supplements, e.g., vitamin C, vitamin B complex, vitamin E, fish oil, etc.

These are just some of the simple changes you can make in your life that can help you to avoid gout in the future. But, of course, there are many more things you can do and take to give yourself the highest possible chance of avoiding gout and the serious damage that recurring gout can cause...
