Watercan Puts Forth All Efforts Into Clean Water Projects

Since 1987, WaterCan has developed into the leading charity dedicated to fighting global poverty. This charity has been helping the world's poorest people gain access to clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene education. WaterCan supports small scale, community driven clean water projects that:

WaterCan has already reached over one million children, women, and men across 32 developing countries with dreams of breaking the cycle of poverty and disease.
One of the clean water projects implemented by WaterCan is called the Clean Water for Schools Program. It addresses the devastating water and sanitation conditions in east African primary schools in an effort to generate a healthy and safe learning environment.
In countries within east Africa, children of all ages are living with diseases due to dirty water and lack of proper sanitation. Skin and eye infections, diarrhoeal diseases, and intestinal parasites that contribute to malnutrition and slow down physical and mental development seem harmless to those with access to proper medical attention. However even though they are preventable and treatable, two million school-aged children surrender to diarrhoeal diseases every year making it the second leading cause of death in children under the age of five.
Another clean water project from WaterCan is called Clean Water for All. The projects developed are intended to help fight global poverty by working with poor urban and rural communities in search of water and sanitation solutions.
With efforts focusing on 4 east African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, WaterCan has created clean water projects to assist the poorest rural and urban areas.
Ethiopia is in a desperate struggle with sanitation issues today. 22% of their population has access to clean water and 13% of the population has access to basic sanitation facilities. Since 1988, WaterCan has been working to bring clean water, basic sanitation and hygiene promotion to Ethiopia.
Kenya faces extreme poverty. 61% of the population has access to clean water and 43% has access to basic sanitary facilities. Since 1988 WaterCan has helped Kenyans lead a healthier life with clean water and basic sanitation.
The diverse population of Tanzania with more than 126 ethnic groups and languages spoken contends with an extremely high level of poverty. More than one third of the population is lacking access to clean drinking water and an even larger number is living without a sanitary place to relieve themselves. WaterCan has provided poor Tanzanian communities with clean water and basic sanitation since 2003.
Uganda has been suffering a horrifying state of poverty. The lack of inadequate health and social services such as water and sanitation has contributed to high death rates among Ugandan children. Since 1991, WaterCan has been working with local NGOs to help bring clean water and sanitation to poor communities across Uganda.
WaterCan has used their resources to create these clean water programs in hope to decrease global poverty and increase clean water and basic sanitary access one country at a time.
