Defensive Driving TX Online

Many defensive driving courses in Texas are readily available online. The Texas Education Agency (TEA), who approves and oversees many course offerings, has made it easy to skip the hassle of having to go to a class in person to get your course completed. Although that traditional option is still available, the TEA has approved a list of Alternative Delivery Methods (ADM) that are much more convenient for the average person. These include being able to take classes via video, DVD, cable TV and online. By far the most convenient option of all the ADM’s is the online option.

With the other versions, you don’t have as much guidance. However, in the online setting, you will have the security of a course provider to help you. Once you sign up, you log in to their system and complete the course at your convenience. If you run into trouble, they will have a 24 hour help line to assist you. Once you complete the course, they’ll mail you the certificate of completion, which you can use a couple of ways.

A defensive driving course can get you out a traffic ticket in the state of Texas; that’s the first way. This doesn’t apply to you if your speeding ticket was for going more than 25 miles over the limit, or if you have a commercial driver’s license (CDL). However, if you have a normal driver’s license and a regular ticket, you can take one of the $25 approved courses and present the certificate of completion on your court day. This might get the judge to dismiss the ticket altogether. Many online companies can even furnish you with a copy of your driving record, an often requested document for a court hearing. If your traffic fine was above $25, completing the course will definitely be advantageous.

Another way you can use it is with your car insurance company. The same online course provider will also send you a certificate to use specifically in this application. If you can provide proof that you took a defensive driving course, many auto insurance carriers will reduce the liability part of your coverage. This could result in a 10% discount on your rates. Once approved, the discounted rate stays in effect for three years. You can keep taking more courses every three years.

The last way you can use an online defensive driving course is simply to better your driving skills. Defensive driving is a thoughtful way of driving that saves lives and time; it is not simply mechanical. If you live in one of the congested parts of Texas or your daily commute scares you sometimes, an online defensive driving course will teach you how to deal with the environment on the road and with the reckless actions of other drivers that put your life at risk. It will give you the peace of mind and take the stress out of having to deal with daily gridlock and/or dangerous driving in your area.

Contact Defensive Driving Solutions today for an array of TEA approved defensive driving course that you can take from the privacy of your own home, and reap the advantages.
