Grief, what is it? It is a significant response to certain loses. This is considered as the feeling of hopelessness when someone or something is taken away from us. It may be associated with the death of the person we love or the actual loss of something we value the most. More so, there are five stages of grief such as, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and finally Acceptance.

Denial is the first stage of grief. During this stage, we may say to ourselves that this can never be happening. We usually place a border between the reality and ourselves so we can protect our ego from the heightening stress we will feel in a long run. It may be normal for a couple of days, but having been staggered on this stage would often lead to psychosis.

As soon as we realize that such event has really occurred, we may be predispose to ask why it has happened. We start to get angry and blame the people around us. At this stage, we are starting to freak out and relate the cause of such uncertainty to others. Hatred will be the common issue if this will not be resolved as soon as possible.

Bargaining is the 3rd stage of the grieving process. We are bound to beg for such event from happening by giving out our best cards so we can bring back the time before the actual situation occur. There is this “if only” thing that would come across our minds.

Depression is the longest stage of the entire process. It usually takes days, weeks or months before we can accept the reality. We may face physical problems during this period like weight loss or weight gain, insomnia and body aches. If one cannot overcome depression in a speed amount of time, it will lead to schizophrenia.

It may be difficult to accept the lost of our loved ones, but we can ride the whole process with the help of our friends and relatives. Coping merely depends on how we view things either in a positive or negative way. We can absolutely combat the effects of grief in no time if we just know how to manage it well.
