Finding toys and fun things for kids is often a very personal journey based on what your unique child likes. Some kids like Legos, others like action figures, still others like sports and toys that let them play outside. There is one toy that almost all kids love though, and that is the stuffed animal. Most kids have a favorite stuffed animal they take to bed with them, and play with all day. You’d be hard pressed to find an adult that didn’t have a favorite stuffed toy as a child. Some even still have them in a memory box somewhere in their houses. So, if you’re searching for a toy that may be your child’s favorite stuffed animal long into their youth, here are a few things to consider.
* Stuffed animals can be very fun things for kids. As a result, they can also get really dirty. And unlike action figures, or rubber toys, they can’t be wiped off or cleaned with conventional cleaners. Therefore, you will want to find a stuffed animal that’s machine washable. You don’t want something that’s so delicate that you have to wash it by hand. Who has time for that? As a matter of fact, if it’s that fragile, it probably won’t last long in your child’s hands anyway. So, find something sturdy, so that if your child does fall in love with it they don’t have to part with it prematurely.
* There has been a huge rise in the toy industry of recalls and lawsuits due to chemicals and faulty construction. So, when selecting any toy or fun thing for kids, make sure you choose a reputable toymaker. When you’re talking about something that could easily end up in your child’s mouth, or around your child’s face for extended periods – as with a plush toy – you don’t want it to be littered with carcinogens and safety hazards.

* You should also consider your child’s age when shopping for a stuffed animal or toy. An older child can be trusted with a plush toy that has buttons and small things attached to it, where that same toy would pose a major choking hazard to a toddler or baby.
