So you've decided to get a pool table so you can get the whole family on evening just-before-bed games that are great for bonding. Of course, they are. Nothing beats having everyone around and engaged in an interesting game of pool every now and then. Plus, you can invite friends for some lazy Friday night going out. Whatever your reason for getting a pool table, one thing is for sure, you want to enjoy the game in the comfort of your own home. The more suitable the type of table you get, the better your experience of the game will be each time.

Three types of pool tables available right now in the market and each is designed for a specific purpose. Getting the right one will also depend largely on who'll be playing. If you're not a very serious player and would certainly like to have a good time with your kids, you can get a 4 to 6 feet Fold-Away table. It will be made of wood but you cannot expect its quality to hold up. This is primarily intended for children who are just learning the game. Portability is its best advantage. That means wherever the family decides to go, whether on a picnic or at a relative's house, the table can invariably come along at your convenience.

The second type is called the Domestic Pool table whose top consists of wood and stands on a solid foundation. This can be very strong and you won't have to deal with wobbly legs or something that can distract you from playing a good game. This costs more than the Fold-Away and is definitely of higher quality. If pool is something you do for recreation, then this type is perfect for you.

If you're a serious pool player with a set of equally serious pool player friends or family members, then the Slate Bed Pool table is the one for you. This will give you the ultimate pool table quality owing to its solid base and an impressive and elegant appearance. This is obviously the most expensive type of pool table but you are, indeed, serious about your game, you will not regret investing on this. These tables can also be quite large so if you're setting your sights on one, make sure you have enough room to put it into. Remember that you can't just think of fitting this table into a room. You also have to consider the fact that you need more space around the table for you to move around comfortably, whether you're playing or not.
