Eagle Ranch Academy Counsels Teens Dealing with Prescription Drug Abuse

Dealing with a drug addiction can have a deleterious effect on one’s life. This is especially true for teens because they are in a transitional stage, poised to enter adulthood. Prescription drug abuse and addiction often results in wrecked academic records, distraught home lives, loss of friends, loss of trust, deteriorated physical health, depression, and a feeling of powerlessness and worthlessness.

Many parents and teens struggling with this feel that it is too late to recover to a place where the addict’s life can be normal again. Teens feel they’ll never get into college because their grades have already plummeted, that they’ll never regain the trust of their families or friends after stealing or lying to them. They often punish themselves because they begin to think of themselves as failures, as bad people. At the same time, they are often very defensive and secretive about the true extent of their addiction, sometimes even lying to themselves.

Everyone here at Eagle Ranch Academy would like to tell you that there’s no need to give up. We have helped teens dealing with prescription drug abuse and addiction (as well as alcohol abuse) to come out of their crisis with a renewed sense of who they are. We have helped teens struggling with addiction issues to the point where ERA were the last resort of their frustrated parents, but with our help, they were able to turn their lives around. Some of our graduates have even gone on to college. Don’t think this could be possible for your child? It isn’t too late. Our program will help your teen medically, psychologically, physically, emotionally, and scholastically.

Eagle Ranch Academy begins their intake with a medical evaluation, including a physical exam, lab tests, a dental exam, and psychological testing. We know that any long term solution for prescription drug abuse and addiction must be an individual solution. We also know the strategies teens dealing with these issues use to deceive themselves and others about their condition. We see it all the time and we constantly adjust our actions to make sure that we are getting around their defense mechanisms over the course of the program.

Our goal is to focus the combined efforts of our doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, academic instructors, fitness instructors, professional staff and our activities, to bring out your child’s strengths and make them self- aware. This is needed to help them overcome a low sense of self worth, and to give them a positive path out of their destructive behaviors. We never give up hope on your child.

In the meantime, your child will be in a residential program on a ranch where there are no distractions to keep them from self reflection, from seeing their situation for what it is, or from figuring out how they want to live after they leave. Every substance that enters their body is either a freshly prepared meal based on a state approved, nutritionally sound diet, or a medication that has been prescribed and controlled by one of our medical professionals.

Through hard work, a positive value based behavior modification program, and the encouragement of self discovery, your teen can ultimately attain physical and mental recovery from prescription drug abuse and addiction.
