Having a pet to take care everyday is just a stress reliever. Many opt to have dogs or cats as their buddies but for some they choose to have rabbits to keep in their house because of the convenience it gives compared to dogs or cats. You should know what to eye for in order for you to get a healthy rabbit if you want to buy or adopt a bunny from a shelter.

You should look for a bunny that is not too fat or too thin when you go to a pet shop or a shelter house for animals. Check its hair; it shouldn't have patches and is well groomed. Its ears should not have a unusual smell or discharge, its ear flaps should be healthy as well. Remember that its ears should be pink. Eyes should not have discharge and are clear; its teeth should be aligned. Your bunny should be comfortable when it is surrounded by people. It should not look lame or distress. Its breathing should not by force. Its cage that it has been kept should also be clean and is not over crowded.

Once you have chosen your pet, maintaining it would be the next task you have to accomplish. Initially, consult a veterinarian on what vitamins you should give to your pet. But you have to look for a doctor who is trained to handle rabbits and other domesticated animals as well. Be prepared to have a lot of hair on your furniture once in a while because bunnies shed off their hair four times a year. Have time to play with your bunny.

But unlike dogs, you do not have to take them for a walk every night. Rabits don't make loud sound. They are very lovable and peaceful creatures to have in your home. Since rabbits consume vegetables, the vitamins and food supplement that you should give your pet should also be organic.

Don't buy a rabbit or any pet which is not healthy, they might not last long and you will just be saddened by their death. Consider going to animal shelter and have one for yourself if you do not have enough money to buy a pet bunny. Try going to a breeder if you really want to be sure that the rabbit is of in good condition and healthy.
