Picking the Right Healthy Food to Slim down

Do you know that making the right healthy food options help to keep your weight down? Not doing so is one of the reasons why you have gained all those extra pounds. This is also the reason why you have problems losing weight and keeping it off. Below are some tips to assist you in making the correct food choices.

1. Vegetables
Topping the list for healthy food options is certainly veggies. Great for helping manage your weight but still keeping you healthy; with the right amount of vitamins and nutrition that your body needs.

2. Fruits
Eating fruits is one of the healthiest food option that you can make. Vegetables and fruits should make up about 30 percent of the total amount of food you consume each day. Keep yourself from getting bored of consuming the same thing everyday by varying your selection of fruits.

Try drinking all natural fruit juices to add to your choices and varieties. Just don't over indulge in fruit juice, since it is always better to eat the whole fruit.

3. Milk Products
Children need calcium to strengthen their bones. In fact the human body requires calcium to stay in good physical shape. For people who are lactose intolerant, they can attain calcium from other sources such as soy products.

You can further add to your healthy food choices by using dairy products which have little or no fat in them. A great substitute for obtaining calcium and helping you reduce weight is yogurt.

4. Eating Fresh Meat
As you know meat is one of the chief sources of protein. Moderation in portion sizes is the key to keeping your weight under control and eating healthy.
A portion should be about four to five oz depending on your calorie requires which differs from person to person. It is important for the meat to be as lean as possible. You can remove most of the fat from the meat by baking, broiling or grilling. Go for fish as your source of lean meat protein for a healthier food option.

5. Whole Grains
6 oz. of grains should be included in your daily meals as part of a well balanced diet to keep you in good physical shape. Today's whole grain cereals are much tastier than the cereals of old.

Mixing grains and fruits together is a great way to ensure that you get your required daily intake. You get new varieties and flavors by mixing them together. If you are a bread lover you should select whole grain bread. Once again, present day whole grain breads are tastier and easier to consume.

Now here is an additional tip just for you. Foods with substantial percentage of saturated fats, increased levels of sodium and trans fats should be avoided. Make it a habit to read and inspect the ingredients labels on food packaging before buying.
It is quite apparent there are many other healthy food options you can make. It is also obvious that consuming the appropriate amount of servings is important to your health and weight. If you include an exercise program in addition to your healthy food option, you will become even healthier and able to keep your weight under check.

Do exercises on a regular basis, consume the correct foodstuff, get adequate rest and you will be on the right direction towards attaining your weight loss objective.
