Creating the Perfect Security Guard Uniforms

When it comes to uniforms, some of the more important ones are the security guard uniforms. These need to stand out and instantly establish the person as a safe haven and security. While there are a number of places that sell standard security uniforms, you may want to go with custom uniforms for the extra polish.

What does a uniform for a security guard look like? That really depends. Many are similar to police uniforms, while others will be far more formal.

In general, you will have a shirt, pants, and a jacket for colder weather. Just how formal these are will depend on the establishment and the business style. For example a nice hotel might have slacks and a formal jacket over a uniform shirt, whereas a store may prefer to use a more obvious security uniform.

There are a few things you need to look for when choosing a company to produce your uniforms. Every company is different so make sure you look for one that can provide you with custom uniforms and help you design the ideal uniform. You may even find that a company with plenty of experience in this will have some standard designs to choose from and a template to help you create the right look.

The colors of the custom uniforms should match those of the business, within reason. If you have orange and white as your logo, for example, those may not be the best colors for the security guard uniforms. Instead you may want to opt for black and white with the company logo. However, dark blue, burgundy and brown are all quite acceptable colors for a security guard to wear.

Choosing the fabric also requires some consideration. It needs to work for all weather conditions, since many guards spend their time outside. That means something that wicks away moisture in summer and keeps the person warm in winter is required. Cotton is the best option, but it also wrinkles very easily and can look messy quite rapidly. Check with the company you are interested in to see what fabric options they offer. If they have one that is a combination of polyester and cotton, then this is a good blend to use. It will be comfortable and easy to wear well.

One thing to keep in mind is the fact that having your company logo on the uniform is going to help with publicity. It's an area that many people will be looking at, so make sure you take full advantage and use it as a space for your branding.

The company logo can go on the chest of the shirt and jacket, as well as on the back of the jacket. Most companies will be able to accommodate just about any company logo as long as it is digital and can be sent to them. This can then be screenprinted or embroidered. Embroidery tends to last longer, though it is more expensive because of all that is involved in putting it on the fabric.

Above all, try to plan for uniforms that look professional and are comfortable to wear. Remember that the security guards are going to be in uniform for much of the day and they should be quite comfortable. There's nothing worse than an itchy or pulling jacket to make someone lose focus on their job, which is to protect.

With custom uniforms, you can ensure that you are getting exactly the look you want, and the size required for your security personnel. Security guard uniforms are often overlooked, but they do have a big impact on how people view your establishment.
