Postcards are Still Effective in the Modern World

It’s both enthralling and appalling to see what modern technology has brought to your life. Enthralling in the sense that it has made out life so much easier and more progressive, but appalling because it has made out conventional practices go obsolete. In fact, in the business world, a lot of traditional customs have been replaced by modern practices.

Let’s take for example marketing. In today’s age of digital technology, marketing activities no longer have to be on the street or through face to face meetings. Advertising to potential customers can be done at the comfort of out home. Emails, texting, blogs, and social networking sites have allowed us to connect to everyone even to people from around the globe. If you are a fan of online networking, direct mail or snail mail may no longer be appealing to you. But suffice it to say that there is something about the old fashioned method of advertising that can be a great investment to you than you think.

If you are one of the business owners who haven’t completely lost their trust on traditional marketing, then it’s time you include postcards in your marketing campaign today. Why? Because these simple cards can be your best marketing tool if you know how to do it right. Compared to emails, there are several advantages of post cards that electronic mails can’t do:

• People receive a lot of emails everyday. Think of the thousands of emails you receive in a day or even a week. If your prospects receive the same number of emails, how do you think your email will stand out? Perhaps you’ll get a slim chance of getting read
.
• Spam blockers. Everyone is familiar with spam. With most email servers putting spam blockers, it’s likely that you email can end up in the spam folder, making it much slimmer for your email to get read. Worse, your email would only get deleted in the spam folder. But with post cards, your prospects have sometime to decide whether to toss away your card. Those critical few minutes (or seconds) will be your chance to make a good first impression.

The numbers

One good advantage of post cards is that they are inexpensive to produce. You can always print your own post cards to save money or look for a printing company that offers low price quotes and great discounts.

Getting started

It’s basically easy to get started on postcard printing. Here are simple ideas to start the design and printing process:

1. Organize your mailing list. This can include the address of your target customers, your current customers, previous customers, personal contacts, and more.

2. Create a winning design and message. With compelling postcard templates and engaging message, will make your post card more interesting.

3. Put the address in your cards. When it comes to mailing your post cards you can either do it on your own or have your printer mail your card to your prospects.

4. Evaluate the campaign. As with any marketing campaign, it is important to asses the result of the campaign. If your card doesn’t seem to be effective, then rethink your strategy.

5. Keep sending. Even if you first attempt at postcard campaign failed, keep sending your cards. A customer who might not be interested in your product or service today may be curious about it in the future.
