Seiko is world renowned for their ability to so consistently produce a high quality time piece. Began in 1881 in Japan, the company began as a clock maker, and now produces a whole range of time pieces that just won’t quit.

It’s 007 O’clock
Seiko watches have even been worn in the movies, primarily by James Bond. Both Roger Moore and Sean Connery wore Seiko watches in several of their Bond films, bringing Seiko an extra dimension of prestige, but maybe not a license to kill.

Quartz Revolution
Seiko introduced the first quartz watch in 1965. This type of watch uses quartz to more precisely keep time and was a revolution for the time. It has a crystal oscillator at its core, and when voltage is applied to it, it can produce vibrations steadily enough to well…set your watch by. The device at its introduction cost the same as a mid sized car.

A number of firsts
In addition to the first quartz watch in 1965, Seiko had a huge amount of world firsts that revolutionized the watch making industry. In 1973 they introduced the first digital LCD quartz watch, which was quickly followed in 1975 by the world’s first multi functional digital LCD quartz watch. In 1990 they revealed the world’s first computerized diving watch.

Seiko’s latest and greatest
Seiko is a leader in personal time piece technology, and they continue to revolutionize the industry. Their latest invention is called the Spring Drive. The Spring Drive has a 72-hour power reserve, and new glide motion technology offering the most accurate depiction of time.

Seiko’s watches currently range in price from around $45 up to a half million to wear the Seiko name on your wrist. Seiko’s most popular type of watch, the Kenetic series, offers a combination of quartz accuracy with self energizing technology. These watches are powered entirely by the movements that go along with every day wear. With this technology, Seiko eliminated the need to constantly pour money into replacing batteries. Here was a watch you could wear for life.

Where can I get one?
Seiko’s watches are sold in fine jewelry stores and retailers across the globe. They are even available at some online discount stores like TechChic.com. An online discount retailer can often offer you a better price than a fine jewelry store, and might be worth looking in to.
