A divorce has an incredible impact on a child’s life. Many teens feel like their world has been ripped from beneath them because of the instability of their lives when their parents decide to get a divorce. They can feel isolated and become racked by fears of abandonment, which can then be expressed negatively as acting out. Students who were once on the honor role or were star athletes, suddenly become angry, distant and difficult to deal with, their grades and school performance suffer, and the path their lives seem to take a downward spiral. Many parents have difficulties facing their own sense of guilt, leading to a sense of powerlessness as they watch their teen struggle to come to terms with the realities of divorce.

Eagle Range Academy is here to help teens cope with issues of divorce. If your child has become out of control and you need help, we are a residential treatment program that specializes in gifted children who have emotional and psychological problems, such as clinical depression, anger control, avoidance (running away) issues, and even weight control disorders that can result from a divorce. Our entire program is individually catered to your child over a range of different areas, addressing their emotional needs, psychological needs, medical needs, physical and nutritional needs, and basic needs. We utilize a variety of clinical methods combined with a Value Based System of reward as well as hard work around the ranch, to create a stable, positive sense of self in your child. We also teach them life management skills so they will be able to cope with whatever challenges lie ahead as they get older, instead of making bad, purely reactive decisions.

One of the most important aspects of care we employ are our Emotional Growth Seminars. These are intended to help both teens and their families to learn how to cope with destructive, negative feelings associated with their situation. Eagle Ranch Academy uses our Value Based Program to develop the good qualities and character traits that your child already possesses, building on them with our trademarked Life Skills Coaching Program. Even though we provide therapy (both individual and group counsel), here at Eagle Ranch Academy, rewards are earned. Fears of abandonment can be calmed when a teen learns that they are an essential part of any solution regarding their families, and the decisions they make matter. In addition, learning life skills that will serve your child in the real world later on will give him or her back their sense of control over their lives. Through positive reinforcement and a renewed sense of self, all achieved through various clinical and rehabiliative means, Eagle Ranch Academy will help your teen cope with issues of divorce.

After you have a private conversation with us, an expert admission counselor will help you to get your child into the most appropriate program for them available at the ranch. We can also assist you with tuition, scholarship and benefit options, (including those through your health insurance), so that you don’t have to wade through the details alone.

Call us today to get the help your teen needs to cope with the impact of a divorce in his or her family.
