1. Organic materials - Leftovers, fruit and vegetable waste, leaves, woods etc.are among the few.

2. Air - Place your compost in an open air.

3. Water - Make sure that there is enough water to help the bacteria and other organisms break down the materials in your compost and turn them into fertilizers.

4. Gardening tools - Rake, spade and fork would be useful.

How make your compost is more important since you will not be needing a lot of things. There are so many things to keep in mind in order to turn your garbage into something worth consuming for your plants.

Not all garbage can be use to make a compost. Don't put human, cat or dog waste, plastics, big pieces of wood and metals. Not all waste can be good for composts. Don't place too much water in your compost pit, it would be better if your compost is dry than overflowing with water. And you know what the good thing about making compost is? Recycle some of your old newspapers.

Place it in a container with water and let it stay overnight then transfer it in your compost pit. Use urine instead of water to provide he necessary hydration of your compost. The acid content can help in breaking up the solid materials and the nitrogen have vitamins and minerals from our body are also great for plants. You can either use a pure urine or you can either mix it with water before pouring it to your compost.

If you happen to have a vacant block nearby, you can start a communal compost heap with your fellow gardeners, producing much larger quantities in varying degrees of readiness, so you have a source of organic compost most of the time.

Organic compost is a wonderful additive to your garden soils and provides a slow release of the essential nutrients your plants need. A balanced, well aged compost should provide adequate amounts of these nutrients so any additives are rarely needed.
