UID Compliance Guidelines: An Overview

By: Id Integration
Submitted: 2010-11-18 01:25:38 | Word Count: 495

The system of Unique Identification, or UID , is laid down by the MIL-STD-130N. The MIL-STD-130N is a collection of requirements that the Department of Defense set up in order to keep track of individual military products and possessions. It explains how individual products should be labeled so that they are not confused with one another. Anything that is made, stocked, stored, or issued either by or for the Department of Defense needs to be UID compliant.

The MIL-STD-130N is also used when the government makes a contract with an outside organization. It explains the minimum requirements that the Department of Defense expects to be met. There are some products that are excluded from the MIL-STD-130N because they already have a different kind of Jet City Laser system in place. Examples include Vehicle Identification Numbers for cars and Electronic Serial Numbers for cell phones.

UID marks for Jet City Laser need to meet certain requirements. First, the UID needs to be applied to a stiff surface such as an ID plate, ID tag, ID label, or ID band. It can be applied to the surface of the product in some cases, as long as it meets other requirements.

For Jet City Laser to take place in an easy manner, the UID should be placed somewhere that is plainly visible during the normal use of the item, if possible. The mark should also be permanent for the lifespan of the item. It must stand up to the environmental conditions that it is expected to face during its lifespan.

If the item is too small for the full UID to be viewed, then the essential Jet City Laser information needs to be visible. This includes the name of the organization that made the item, the part identification number, and the batch number. If there is no room at all on the product, it can be placed on the packaging instead.

The minimum font size to be used on a UID is 5.76 points, sans serif, with Arabic numbers. If possible, machine readable information must be included. There are several guidelines that must be met for machine readable information, such as how the information is presented, and the minimum amount of information that must be provided. There are further restrictions laid down on the quality of the marking for Jet City Laser , the way the information is arranged, and so forth.

For proper Jet City Laser to take place, there are several further guidelines that must be met by each specific industry as well. The requirements of the MIL-STD-130N are very complicated, and it is important to get in touch with an expert organization such as Jet City Laser in order to ensure that all requirements are met.
