Every business understands the need to set themselves apart from others. As the economy leans further towards a world wide market, making your company appear unique becomes more important. This is why you must develop a Unique Value Proposition (UVP). This is a statement that your company will strive to achieve to allow you to stand out against all others. As a quick example Google the internet giant had a very simple UVP : "Find what you want quicker."

The following steps will help guide you toward developing an UVP for your company.

- Have a brainstorming session that discusses what makes your company, service or product unique. Once you have established this concept, begin to decide how you will promote this uniqueness to your potential customers
- Listen to your current customers they will openly tell you what they want and expect. By carefully listening to what customers need you will see a trend develop. Grab that trend and run with it - its what the people want.
- Always look to the future. Your UVP may need to change down the road - especially if the first one is successful. Competition sees success - and is quick to copy it. You will need to stay on top.
- Always think of ways you can improve your customers' personal life. Can your product give them better health, more energy, elevate them financially? Will your product provide them a status symbol, give them prestige or just make them self satisfied? These are all things you must play on to succeed.
- Finally, make sure you can live up to your UVP. If you promise something you must follow through.

Following these simple steps will allow you to create, and recreate, the unique Value Proposition that your business needs to thrive. Having a UVP is mandatory if you want to grow your business into a major force. Every business starts off small. However, they do not have to remain small if they understand how to reach an audience. Now that the audience is a worldwide one through the internet, the ability to become a worldwide competitor is an actuality.
