Partnering with Bridgeport Mfg., the EZ Surf Grinder is programmable to 10-millionths accuracy, making it among the most precise in its class. Bridgeport is responsible for the only domestically manufactured surface grinder, and a few years ago introduced the Bridgeport/Harig EZ Surf XA, capable of high precision and easy operator use for high production runs. It incorporates technology called Newall Microsyn Digital Linear Encoders, which along with new software specially designed to interface with newer scales, makes it among the top surface grinders around. A 5-place decimal display is said to enhance the EZ Surf XA’s resolution to 10-millionths with correspondent accuracy in the machine itself. It is repeatable within one micron, making the XA a cost-effective entry in the high-precision surface grinder arena. EZ Surf XA Harig surface grinders allow the operator to run the machine in manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic modes, making it extremely flexible. Rugged construction ensures years of use in high- to medium-production run, featuring cast iron bases with 3-point leveling, an automatic, continually circulating lube system, hand-tooled parts, and high precision internal components, adding to precision and long life.
Says Bridgeport, “The manufacturing industry continuously presses for non-compromising precision in all sectors. With the EZ-Surf XA, we feel we are able to match precision with anybody for the applications where we have been producing quality parts for over 75 years."
Additionally, the EZ Surf features a 7” wheel, with an 8” wheel capacity, and a two- diamond wheel dress with compensation. The user has the option of either standard or slow longitudinal feeds, and a 3” diameter spindle with class 7 preloaded ball bearings and a 1.5 horsepower continuous-duty spindle ensures the long life of the innovative Harig surface grinder.
Tru Tech has also been producing the popular Harig surface grinder 618, and its smaller counterpart, the 612 Hand-feed grinder. The 618 features a larger work area with a more substantial base and stand; innovations include hand-scraped ways and a flow-through lubrication system, making this machine extremely popular in shops, machining facilities and large production manufacturing concerns.
