It is generally acknowledged that teenage drivers are at high risk of being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Nearly every day there are reports of still more accidents involving teenage drivers. Many accidents have several teenagers in a car. Many accidents have several victims. Many accidents include pedestrian victims. In this article we look at 4 reported accidents. One case involves severe injuries. The additional three situations ended in a fatality.
This motor vehicle accident was caused by a sixteen year-old driver who was driving under a junior license. The accident occurred at roughly 9:20 on a Tuesday evening. The junior license did not allow driving beyond 9 pm. The reason why is unclear but somehow the driver lost control of the car. As a result the car hit another vehicle and then struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, was waiting at a bust stop when the accident happened, died from his injuries. The victim was a 65 year old man. The driver suffered minor injuries. He was, however, arrested and charged with speeding, manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide.

In this report the driver of the motor vehicle was a drunk 18 year old male. The motor vehicle accident occurred prior to dawn on a Sunday. Most drunk driving accidents happen on weekend nights. As outlined by the report the victim in this situation was hit while crossing a road. The victim was a 44 year old male. The impact caused the pedestrian to suffer severe head injuries. After the accident the teenage drunk driver was arrested and was charged with driving under the influence and with driving while intoxicated.
This motor vehicle accident involved an 18 year-old male driving in a residential neighborhood at about 8:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. The accident took place when the teenaged driver lost control of his vehicle. It turned forcefully and flipped, striking a pedestrian who had just gotten out of his car so as to take a pamphlet from the front yard of one of the homes. The home was for sale and had a sign and the pamphlets in the front yard. After striking the pedestrian the car kept going until it was finally stopped by slamming into a tree in front of the house. The 67 year old male victim was killed in the accident.
This motor vehicle accident involved a nineteen year-old female driver also driving in a residential community. The driver struck a woman who was in front of her house working in a flower bed. The car hit her with such force that the woman was thrown nearly one hundred fifty feet into a truck parked in her driveway. The teenaged driver fled the scene of the accident. The driver was arrested in the area approximately 30 minutes later as she was allegedly returning to the scene to take responsibility for the accident.
On a personal level it is sad to have to read about these accidents. These types of incidents are true tragedies. Victims who survive the accident are often left with injuries that result in irreversible disabilities. In incidents involving a fatality the family of the victim suffers the loss of a loved one. Even the life of the teen driver is permanently changed. Still, whether it is from speeding or from drunk driving these accidents keep happening.
