Tomatoes are one of the simplest vegetables to grow in a small city garden. Even a small amount of space can produce an enormous crop of one of nature's finest sweetest fruits. Even in space with little natural light you should be able to find a tomato variety to suit.
Tomatoes can be grown in pots troughs even hanging baskets all they need is a fine soil and regular watering. Grow bags are the best solution but don't be held back by this. Give them a go in whatever you have.

There are so numerous varieties of tomatoes available these should be held back the thinking you had to grow the ones you see in stores. There are several beautiful varieties and then not only read summary yellow and even Burgundy. Growing a few different ones will give your salads a nice variety.
Make sure you choose the most sunny position in your garden to grow your tomatoes. If your garden doesn't see much sun then just go for the lightest location you have available. Just follow the directions on your seed packet or the ones that came with your small plants.
If you're bit apprehensive about your abilities to grow from seed then why not go and buy smaller plants. These are already off to a healthy start and still let you experience the growing development. Slugs can be one of the major enemies to plants so it maybe worth it worth picking up some slug repellent.
Tomatoes need water, its very important to make sure you water them whenever they seem dry if they dry out too much in the fruits could split the plants could die. Sustaining them with string is also important as they get bigger they're prone to being blown down by the wind.
Now it is just a case of keeping an eye on them every day watering them when any watering, and giving them tomato feed when the fruits start to appear.
