Wholesale Travertine

Tavertine is a combination of many minerals that get deposited on the surface of the earth. These minerals get dissolved in water in the springs and rivers and then these water bodies deposit them on the surface, which then get heated and pressurized and slowly turn into their current state. Wholesale travertine tiles are easier and cheaper to find because of their availability on the earth’s surface in the form of big boulders that are cut and made into tiles.

The color of the travertine is usually ivory, gold, walnut or light brown, mainly because of the minerals present in these tiles, along with iron compounds and various other impurities. The tiles that are extracted from the boulders can be cut in two different ways, either in vein cut or in cross cut. When the stone is cut across many levels of its beddings, there are different layers that can be seen making it look more striped and classy. When cut using cross cut methods, it is sliced along the layers of its segments which make it consistent in the color and texture. Travertine tiles are a part of the limestone family like the marble, but marble forms under very high pressure.

There are many forms in which the travertine tiles are available. The honed travertine tiles have a matte finish while the smooth finish comes in the polished travertine tiles. The most common are the matte finished ones and are especially useful in bathrooms where the matte finish helps in preventing slipping because of the friction. Polished tiles on the other hand are best suited for counter tops, both in the bathroom as well as in the kitchen. It lends a unique appearance to the place where it is used.

Wholesale travertine tiles are available in similar look and feel so that there is consistency in your décor. The other two types of travertine are tumbled or brushed tiles which have a textured finish. Different finishes of the tiles can lead to different usage and therefore, one should choose the tiles based on where they are going to be used.

These tiles are extensively used today for flooring, covering the outdoors, making paths and even in covering walls and buildings as well as in swimming pools. These tiles are very durable and reliable along with being impressive in appearance. If you buy wholesale travertine tiles, you not only get a great look for your place but will also end up saving a great deal of money. If you can bargain well, you should try to reduce the prices enough so that you get rates as low as possible among all in the market. You should decide while choosing the tile where it will go in your house or building, so that you can plan on the finish like polished or matte, and on the cut as well as the color shade that’s desirable for you.
