A Catholic marriage ceremony in Toronto, just like elsewhere in the world is one of the seven holy sacraments that Catholics adhere to, it is thus a solemn activity laden with deep spiritual intonations and symbolism. There is a certain systematic order that all Catholics adhere to before and during a marriage ceremony. Usually, there is a scripture reading during the nuptial depending on the couple’s preferences or the presiding priest. In Canada, Catholics have the marriage ceremony presided over by a priest. He reads the introductory rites which is usually a short prayer requesting God to bless the couple. In Canadian cities like Ontario, Mississauga, Brampton, Markham and Niagara Falls, relatives of the bride and groom will throng the churches in order to witness the ceremony.

In most catholic churches, wedding photographers and videographers are at liberty to record the church ceremony. Selected family members usually read the liturgy after which the priest issues the congregation a short sermon. A pre appointed wedding DJ can play the music, although some churches insist using their own in house church choirs. As the couple takes the vows, the entire congregation stands. The priest leads the couple in reciting the vows, which includes personal commitments from both the bride and the groom that they will support each other not only through the good times, but also through the hard and challenging times until death separates them.

In most Catholic Mississauga weddings, the priest asks the couple whether they promise to love and cherish each other. If both of them respond in the affirmative, the priest then gets the rings from the best man and maid, blesses them and hands them over to the groom first and then the bride. Accepting the rings, each one of them say, “I give you this ring, as a symbol of love and faithfulness, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” The priest then pronounces them husband and wife. When captured on the video or photos, these scenes create invaluable memories for the couple. Trained Toronto wedding videographers or Toronto wedding photographers understand the importance of creating good memories for the couple.

After the Toronto wedding ceremony, the couple goes to the reception venue where they interact with the guests. Most couples hire wedding limousine to take them to the reception party. However, some event organizers avoid the travel involved by inviting the priest to administer the nuptial blessings at the venue. Unlike the church nuptials ceremony, the priest does not administer Holy Communion to the congregation because he does not carry out Mass.

To wed in the Catholic Church, there are certain aspects that the Catholic Church observes. One of the most prevalent is ensuring that it is a first marriage for both the bride and the groom. This is because the Catholic Church widely condemns divorce. However, a person may marry a second time if the first spouse is deceased. Some priests advocate for Catholics marrying fellow Catholics. However, this is not very common today. Most Toronto marriages allow matrimony if at least one of the couples is Catholic
