I've got some ideas for you however let's take a very little test first. I will give you 60 seconds to call every leadership strategy you have ever heard of.
Prepared?
Go! (BTW, I might appreciate you not reading any more until your 60 seconds is up.)

Well? How many leadership ways are on that list of yours? Five, 10, twenty? Not bad. Here's mine...S-E-R-V-E, situational leadership, transformational leadership, relational leadership, leading by walking around, servant leadership, inspirational leadership, positive leadership, leadership through vision, charismatic leadership, transactional leadership...okay, enough of this.
I've just thrown out twelve totally different strategies. Some I've practiced and some I just pulled of the web. What I grasp about all of them is that they're working for someone or we might have never heard of them in the primary place. That's all fine and good, but you are here as a result of you would like to seek out one that works for you. So before we have a tendency to speak a lot of about any of those leadership strategies, let's start back at the beginning.
Let's begin with you.
Why did you become a leader? Take some time and be honest with this one. It's the foremost important query you may answer if you're really here to search out leadership ways that will work for you. Was it because you needed to be the decision maker? Was it as a result of you saw the need and you felt obligated to fill it out of a deep want to serve? Was it the title, the standing, the perks? Was it as a result of you truly wanted to assist others grow and develop as you all pursued a typical goal that was merit achieving?
Sorry for the intensity there, but you may thank me for it later. You see, there are no wrong or right reasons for becoming a frontrunner, however your reasons for becoming one play a considerable role in your success or failure. A way bigger role, I think, than the leadership ways mentioned above. I've worked with leaders who were all regarding the job title, the importance and also the importance of leadership. All of them failed as a result of they were into self-preservation, asserting their superiority, and hob-knobbing with the massive wigs - usually at their followers' expense. Those behaviors led to a poor work surroundings, a scarcity of trust, and voluntary turnover.
I've also worked with leaders who genuinely cared regarding their followers, were actively engaged in their growth and development, and communicated a transparent vision of where the cluster was headed. Those leaders enjoyed fantastic results, a stellar work setting, and the only turnover they experienced was due to promotion. Their success wasn't due to leadership strategies. They succeeded, not by using techniques or systems, however by using the one simple issue - their strength of character.
These leaders knew who they were and that they acted accordingly. Standing, power, and also the approval of others had no result on their call making. They let their character guide them and you can't learn character from leadership strategies. If you're here because external influences are guiding your decisions instead of your own core values, I've got one thing you may wish to read. I have no doubt it will open your eyes.
