Donating used shoes and clothing is a viable option as well, for most, but what does one do with shoes that are torn, full of holes, sole-less, or otherwise un-wearable in some other fashion?
Next time you are ready to put your old shoes out of their misery and finally retire the poor guys (or gals, of course), perhaps you might consider an alternative to the typical landfill as their ultimate destiny. You could give them a new life through recycling.
