Samsung Galaxy Review

The Samsung Galaxy, created by Korean based Samsung, is the firms’ latest offering in the Smartphone niche. Its clean design, oversized screen and technology offerings mean it is on course to compete with iPhone 4 by Apple – arguably the most popular of all the smart phones. With cutting edge technology and a beautiful design that includes a curved back, the Samsung Galaxy may very well have the iPhone beat. Its four-inch screen is definitely bigger than the iPhone’s.

The screen really makes the Galaxy stand out. The colors are exceptionally bright and vibrant. Overall screen visibility is great, even in poor lighting conditions. The touch screen functionality is cutting edge and very responsive, as opposed to earlier touch screen phones offered by other manufacturers. This makes the UI (User Interface) that much simpler.

Functionality is equally impressive and the Samsung Galaxy relies on a number of Android Apps to increase the overall usefulness of the phone. These applications are easy to find, easy to install and simple to remove. The massive number of apps available makes the phone exceptionally customizable. The phone also boasts a 5-mega-pixel camera and an HD720p video recorder. Standard functionality in terms of call functions, texts functions and emails are on par with other comparable smart phones.

Many reviewers of the phone comment on the ‘plastic’ feel of the construction. This is in stark contrast to other smart phones made of metal. The ‘cheap’ feel may be difficult for those looking for ‘premium’ phones, but many find its impact to be positive. The plastic construction makes the unit extremely lightweight. Durability isn’t impacted by the plastic construction and the overall design and construction of the phone has been called ‘sleek and sexy’ by many users. The durable materials make recovery from falls and spills that much easier, as plastic is much more forgiving a substance than metal mixes.

No phone is perfect, and the Samsung Galaxy is not without fault. The battery life isn’t quite what many users want. This is especially true for users who rely on a lot of applications. Users who focus primarily on traditional functions do see increased battery life, but what’s the point of buying a smart phone if you are not going to use all its capabilities? Another battery issue is the enormous amount of time it takes to completely recharge the battery. A phone charger for both the house and car is a must with this model.

In general, most users are happy with the new Samsung Galaxy. The design of the phone is similar to that of the iPhone, but with a larger screen and a comfortable curved back. Easy access to tons of Android applications and sturdy construction round out their latest offering, and give users a cross-platform gateway to hundreds of thousands of useful apps for every day use. With the exception of the battery life issue, which Samsung is likely to address in future releases, this is an exceptional Smartphone.
