Summertime is Over: A Souvenir of the 2010 Summer in the Adriatic Riviera

The liveliness of the Adriatic Riviera, in fact, is well renowned in the whole Italy – and out of it: thousands of tourists choose it to spend their holidays there, and the first thing that occurs thinking about the Adriatic Riviera are the discos and pubs in Rimini and Riccione. But there are not only discos in the Riviera: exhibitions, events, fairs and parties of any kind give life to the summers in the Adriatic Riviera, satisfying sports, art, history, literature and sea lovers, as well as, of course, those who look for simple relax.
For the sports lovers, the beaches of Rimini and surroundings, supported by the welcoming hotels in Viserba and Viserbella northwards and in Riccione southwards, have been filled with sporting fields, from the classic basketball, football, beach-volley to the less usual tchoukball. The arts lovers, instead, had the chance to see exhibitions of various kinds; “Le passioni” (the passions), in Rimini from the 29th May to the 4th July, has been a beautiful exhibition dedicated to Francesca da Rimini, unlucky lover of Paolo Malatesta killed with him by her husband, Gianciotto: the story is told by Dante in the Divine Comedy in the V canto, where Dante meets Paolo and Francesca, in the lustful circle. During the event, there have been seminaries, exhibitions, meetings and concerts dedicated to Francesca da Rimini.
Those who love the sea will certainly have been involved in the “Wellness Beaches”, which organized various kinds of events between the 14th June and the 21st August: gymnastics, dance, meditation, musica, yoga and much more, all in 16 beaches between Misano Adriatico and Igea Marina. A beautiful chance to spend you holidays taking advantage of the marine air, that mixed with the relax offered by the Wellness Beaches rejuvenated all its participants – at least in their spirit!
With a last minute to Viserbella you had the chance to participate in numerous initiatives, also reminding, among the others, the gastronomic ones: the cuisine of Romagna, known for its rich recipes, simple and genuine, is very appreciated. If you are in the area at the end of May you cannot refuse a dish of noodles with mushrooms at the “Sagra del Fungo Prugnolo” (Prugnolo Mushroom Fair), in the Romagna highlands: the fair is in honour of this delicious and rare mushroom, which you can only find between April and May in the central Italy, and it’s celebrated with specialities which bring out it, with first courses, appetisers and every kind of dish.

Then, there must be a tribute to the sea: the Rimini Termiti Rimini, one of the longest regattas in the Mediterranean Sea, with its 400 nautical miles, held in May. The route is secure, as it keeps a coast navigation near the major Adriatic ports which, in case of need, can offer a safe repair.
