It is a tough comparison to make whether one should go for MBA finance or CFA. But let’s try to analyze both these types of courses side by side. CFA or the Chartered Finance Analyst is considered as a bonus for most of the financial professions and jobs. For the post of the Fund Money Managers, Investment Managers, Asset Management professionals having a CFA certificate is crucial for success. CFA is a career specific course of study and can only lead to improvement in the above mentioned careers. Though holding a CFA degree is coveted in the financial job market but the scope is not broad enough as in the MBA courses. In case of a professional having a MBA degree from a renowned business school the flexibility is much greater.

By doing an MBA course you not bound to a specific sector of business or a specific type of work. It will add a great deal of value to your resume alongside your past job experiences and existing job experience. Choice among the two fields depends on your future career plans, job preferences and career path to be pursued in future. With CFA you will start and end in the specialized finance sector but with MBA courses in Finance you can take up any of the career paths in different niches you choose.

There are different benefits of the CFA and MBA course in Finance. The CFA has one large benefit in order to study this course you can be a total novice and there is no prior experience in the finance required. For the MBA courses in Finance some prior industry experience is of utmost importance. An experience of 2-5 years makes it easy for the students to cope up with the MBA course. Thus more and more students are taking up the CFA course and then getting some prior experience about the finance industry and after having a fair deal of knowledge they pursue the MBA finance course. CFA level 1 courses are also a great preparation ground for the entrance tests to get into the MBA Delhi, MBA Hyderabad, MBA Singapore or any other part of the world you may be. Though there are many that argue that MBA course in Finance involves a huge expenditure, at times an expenditure that is nearly twice of the investment to be made in case of CFA. But at the end of the day the candidates having a MBA degree will earn a huge sum too in their job places.

Another point that can differentiate the two courses is that MBA courses in the business schools not only teach students about the various principles required in a workplace, it also makes them adept at tackling various situations. In a workplace there are various complex situations and challenges that have to be tackled by doing a MBA in Finance course you will feel easy with such situations. The end thing is that while the CFA is a great course to start you career in the financial sector but in order to rise in that sector and cope up with the growing number of challenges MBA courses in Finance are a great thing to undergo.
