There are many forms of self defense but nothing comes close to using your physical body as a weapon. Do you want to stay fit and at the same time learn to defend yourself in times of trouble? Why not learn martial arts? Aside from self defense there are actually many advantages you can gain from learning martial arts. Learning it can be beneficial mentally and instinctively.

There are types or forms of martial arts and depending on what our interest are you can choose any of the following:

- Ninjutsu- This is a type of martial arts was first founded in Japan. This is known to be very lethal that is why it is banned in the US. Ninjutsu is a unique method of thinking and using one's bodily movements to defend oneself. This does not use any specific weapon for fighting, among the commonly used weapons in Ninjutsu are is the Bo or commonly called the Staff it is usually six feet long, made of bamboo.

Bokken is another which is a wooden sword. Using a Boken sword over a metal sword is is better since Bokken is lighter to carry around the ninja's back.

- Taekwondo- This is a Korean martial arts which was designed for self-defense, exercise, developoing one's mental and physical alertness and lately as a sport enjoyed even by kids and elderly, in fact it is the national sport of South Korea and is included in their military training. Taek Wondo means to strike with the use of foot and fist. Which can be seen from their quick, high and spinning foot movements when kicking or attacking an opponent.

The three commonly used techniques in taekwondo are the control technique which includes the breathing of a practitioner, the freeing technique which is very important because it teaches a practitioner how to free himself when an attacker grabs him, and the termination technique which aims in keeping the opponent in a helpless position on the floor.

- Gatka- This type of martial arts uses a wide array of weapons and it is not only focused on developing a person's physical strength rather it also involves his spirituality. First founded in India, Gatka is related to the religion Sikhism. According to history facts, Gatka was developed mainly for self-defense by the Sikhs. In the 16th century when Mughal empire ruled over India they wanted to eradicate the Sikhs and the Hindus because of their religion. And it was during this time when one martial arts expert named Guru Gobind Singh Ji introduced the Gatka to the Sikhs.

Author Resource:- The best way to be a ninja ninjutsu is not just by reading articles or books about its history rather by doing the ninjutsu basic movements and so on. You can join ninjutsu group classes or you can purchase a ninjutsu dvd to practice in your house.
