Among the easiest means of passing on your contact information to your target customers is through business cards. As one of the traditional marketing tools, these simple cards are often overlooked by many business owners.

In essence, business cards are more than just a simple piece of paper that presents your contact details to prospects. It has become one of the important tools to businesses today if you want to generate a strong foothold in the business industry. More than a paper used to exchange contact information, business cards are used to draw in profitable customers. It serves as a mini billboard. An advertisement printed on a card that tells people what the business offer.

Though faceless, a well designed business card helps create a good first impression for your business. This is why it is crucial to take great consideration in choosing the design, size, and shape of the card. They maybe small yet they are relatively handy and affordable, and what’s best they can be given to anyone your one meet.

But it’s critical to ensure your business card works for you. Here’s how to get you started:

Graphics

As much as possible it’s important to keep the graphics in your business card to a minimum. You can simply include your logo in your cards, and do away with the unnecessary graphics. But be sure that your card has art. If there’s no art in your business cards, you aren’t doing justice to your card.

Make sure that the graphics you use are of high quality. Then build your design around it. Your graphics should compliment your card design. As much as possible keep everything simple. Don’t be too fancy in your design as often, the simplest designs are the most effective. You can consider using one side to print with your contact details and the other side can feature your art.

Contact Information

Your business card has only limited space. You must not cram everything you want printed in the card. You should stick with the basic information and as much as possible present them in a clear and logical way. The basic information to print includes your name, business address, phone numbers, and email address. Remember to use simple but big enough fonts that stand out in the card. If people can’t read your business card printing, you have failed.

Design

There are many ways to design a business card. You can do it yourself or hire a professional graphics designer. If you know how to use a design software, is comfortable with designing your own business cards, and have enough time to the design process, then design your own business cards. If you do this, you get to have control of your cards and save a lot of money. But if you are uncomfortable with the computer and isn’t familiar with the different design options, by all means hire a professional designer.

Printing

Once you are done with the design process, you are now ready to print your cards. You can always do it yourself or hire a printer. If you print your own cards, you always have the opportunity to print small quantities, change your design anytime you want, and have control of the process. If you do decide to hire a printer be sure to choose wisely. Do your research and ask around for the best printing company. You can ask referrals from friends to ensure you are choosing the right printer. Be sure to ask for samples from the printer you are considering to ensure they meet the output you desire.
