What Obesity Discussion?

This is a good example of how on-line weight loss "specialists" will confuse and harm the Yank consumer...The Obesity Dialogue?
Throughout a dinner conversation with an admirer, the topic of laziness was brought up. From there, we tend to some how got around to the subject of obesity. He said to me, "A great example of how bad laziness will be is obesity."
"Excuse me," I coughed out (virtually chocking on the last bite).
"You know, obese individuals don't do anything. They're fat as a result of they are lazy," my friend said as if from a position of authority. This was going to be a protracted dinner I may tell.

It turns out, my friend scan an article posted on the online that started with a statement kind of like my friend's words that just about created me choke. Sadly, he did not remember the author's name but the title was Fitness and Exercise -- I haven't found it...yet.
What blows my mind is how easily people believe what's written on a website by somebody calling himself an skilled! The $64000 experts want to start out making noise!
Laziness will not cause obesity. If that were therefore, obesity would be the norm and not thought of a problem. I recently found a beautiful definition of obesity...it covers all the possibilities in one clear sentence:
The etiology of obesity is advanced, determined by the interplay of genetic and environmental factors -Andrea Baessler, from her recent article in Diabetes, Jan, 2005.
There has never been a debate about what causes obesity. We have continuously known that obesity is multifactorial in etiology. The "real" debate topics are which environmental factors and that genes increase the chance or incidence of obesity. The rest of the article reviews recent work around two genetic links to obesity.
SREB-one Gene
Delphine Eberle's work (Diabetes, Aug, 2004), with the sterol regulatory part binding protein transcription issue, found that the two isoforms are linked to the "plasma leptin concentrations in Yankee obese families."
His group hypothesized, "...genetic variations of the SREB-1 gene may be related to obesity and obesity-connected metabolic traits like insulin resistance, sort a pair of diabetes, and dyslipidemia."
Curiously, SREB-1 gene polymorphisms were found among obese cohorts when compared to nonobese cohorts. This implies they are on to something and probably not far from marking the SREB-one gene as a transparent link to obesity (1).
Ghrelin Receptor Gene (GHSR)
The importance of ghrelin in the central regulation of feeding has been demonstrated in animals and humans. Ghrelin increases appetite and food intake in traditional subjects and patients with decreased appetite, like those suffering from cancer cachexia. Recent proof suggests that obesity is related to an impairment of the entire ghrelin system (two).
Besides its biological operate, the ghrelin receptor gene is located during a quantitative trait locus or QTL strongly linked to 6 phenotypes of obesity (1).
This can be a second robust genetic association to obesity. Each teams will soon have conclusive proof to support their arguments for SREB-one and GHSR genetic links to obesity.
As way as I can tell, laziness wasn't mentioned once. How several wonderful people avoid treatment because they really believe it's their own fault?
