Great Weapons of Martial Arts

Being able to defend yourself is very important these days. Crimes are committed every hour all over the world today. People of different ages and gender are being robbed, murdered, raped and threatened by people who have nothing on their minds but to do their crimes.

Learning martial arts is a great way for you to be able to protect yourself from these kind of people. But being involved in martial arts also requires weapons. Below are some uncommon but very effective weapons used in different martial arts.

Dulo-Dulo

This is a weapon used for stabbing and slashing the enemy. Dulo dulo is divded in to two kinds.

- Ordinary Dulo-Dulo - made from iron and has pointed tips. Most users of this weapon attaches it to a key chain better access to the weapon when needed. Some can be hidden in your hand, depending on the size.

- Carabao Horn Dulo-Dulo - It is not just a weapon, it can also be used as a decoration for your home if you are not using this. This is made from pure carabao's horn, carabao is a water buffalo. You can also attach this to a keychain if preferred by the user.

Sibat

This is a kind of weapon which is very the same with a spear or staff. This is used by the natives of The Philippines. It is referred to as bankaw, palupad, or sumbling in common dialects in Negros.

Early sibats had a sharpened and pointed-tip stone attached to a wooden shaft. Modern sibats' tips are made from metal. The tips could either be single-edged, barbed or double-edged.

Knuckles

This is another very deadly weapon, it is so deadly that in some countries it is even banned. There are a lot of different kinds of knuckles. Some are made from iron or any metal while some are made from wood. Knuckles made from iron are the deadliest among them. They are worn in the hand with holes in it to put the fingers into.

Garrote

A garrote is a weapon similar to arnis. Garrote is a weapon used to damage, slow-down or even kill an opponent. When using a garrote, it is important to take note that you should be a master to this art, because if you are not chances are that the enemy will get the weapon from you and use it against you.

Now that you have some knowledge on some weapons that are used in Asian martial arts, it is now time for you to search for a school that teaches the martial arts that fit your needs.

While each style has unique facets that differentiate it from other martial arts, a common characteristic is the systematization of fighting techniques. Methods of training vary and may include sparring (simulated combat) or formal sets or routines of techniques known as forms or kata. Forms are especially common in the Asian and Asian-derived martial arts.
