Becoming a freelance writer is one of the easiest ways to make money, especially online. Not only do you get to work for yourself as your own boss, you can work whenever you feel like it. Plus, you choose your clients, your topics and your pay rate. What could be better? All you have to do is find freelance writing jobs that fit the bill, and I'm going to show you how to do that now.
1. Go to Google.com and type the following into the search box:

with the quotation marks around the keywords. Sift through the results to find domains with words like "freelance" and "writing" and "online" in the address.
2. Look for the "Telecommute" option.
One of the best things about freelance writing jobs is that you can live almost anywhere you wish. That being said, there are some writing jobs that require writers to live in the area, especially if they're looking for area-specific blog posts or journalist reporting. But if you see the word "telecommute," that means you can work from almost anywhere.
3. Check the pay rate.
Not everyone lists how much they'll pay their writers. Many employers say "DOE," which means, "Depends on Experience." If you're an experienced writer, you'll get paid more than a beginning writer, but there's room for improvement - and a pay raise!
4. Check specific sites.
Go back to Google.com and type "writing jobs site:craiglist.com" (without the quotes). Now you'll only get searches from Craigslist. This is seriously one of the best places to find reputable employers. Although there are some bad apples out there, too, you'll be surprised how many Craigslist clients pay upwards of 4 cents per word - which is a lot of money for a writer.
Craigslist is one of the best ways (and my favorite way) to find freelance writing jobs. However, there are just a couple of drawbacks. The first is that you have no guarantee the client will pay you. Also, you have no one to help edit your work. In addition, once you've submitted your work, you won't make any more money on that article as you will on other sites that allow their writers to make revenue earnings for each view their articles receive.
You can find freelance writing jobs at upfront and revenue pay websites, too. You might not find them on craigslist, but you will find them on sites like Problogger. The drawback to these sites is that they might have strict guidelines to follow, which might confuse some first time writers.
Either way you choose, you'll have challenges. But once you get past those challenges, you will begin to make several hundred to three thousand dollars per month. Seriously. And how do I know this?
