1. Repetitive firing of the muscles.
Muscles fireplace over and over. They contract, squeeze, and pull on their tendon attachments and all the connective tissue that surrounds them and connects to alternative structures.
When a person varieties on a keyboard for hours and hours, depending on what they are doing, that's thousands and thousands of keystrokes, which suggests that that the muscles fireplace thousands and thousands of times.
Together with everything else you are doing together with your hands all day long, it really starts to feature up. You really can have too much of a smart thing.
The body is incredibly resilient. Even so, tens of thousands of repeated muscle firings all day every day starts to push the limits of what the body can simply be sure of.
2. Muscles retain a little bit of each contraction.
Every time a muscle fires, numerous individual muscle fibers in that muscle contract. The more fiber that contract, the more weight can be moved.
Each time a muscle fires, a little range of those muscle fibers keep tighter than they were before. Using a bodybuilder as an example, over time a weightlifter's muscles get more and more tone. Thus even when they sleep their muscles are tight, working. Same factor happens with a pc user.
Over time, the muscles of the hand and forearm get more and more tight, so when you head to sleep at night, it's like your muscles are lifting a serious barbell all night long. This happens because the nervous system sets the tightness because the new normal.
Too much repetition and an excessive amount of tightness sets up a dynamic of irritation and micro tear within the tissue. When the body gets irritated and injured, whether or not it's a little little quantity, the body starts to defend itself.
3. The body defends itself against additional damage by initiating an Inflammation Response.
Inflammation traps fluid in the world and releases chemicals that enhance your sensitivity to pain. In the beginning, you'll feel the extra sensitivity, however your nervous system can. It feels the extra pain sensation, and then it tries to defend you. By releasing a lot of chemical that enhances your sensitivity to pain. It's not terribly good, however that's what happens.
The other thing that happens with a lot of pain, is that muscles get tight to assist guard against further damage.
So to stay you safe from a lot of injury whereas typing all day long, your body makes muscles a lot of tight and releases chemical that makes you hurt more. These 2 variables are an important part of the Downward Spiral of ever increasing pain and tightness. Oops.
Typing in and of itself isn't a problem. Typing doesn't really cause wrist pain. It's the manner the body responds to that that you have got to be careful for if you wish to urge pain free and stay that way.
