What's a snoring chin strap? Well, it's a simple aid that you wear whilst you sleep. It's purpose is to hold your jaw in the proper position in order to help prevent your snoring. Here, you'll find out how this works to stop snoring, leading to a good night's sleep for all concerned.
Before we go any further, it will be advantageous to just remind ourselves what actually causes snoring at night, so that we can better appreciate how devices like the snoring chin strap are able to relieve snoring...

Snoring occurs when your airways are partially blocked by the soft tissue in them. This can happen when you lie in a prone position, for example when you are asleep in bed. And it occurs because, when you are asleep, your muscles and soft tissue in and around your airways relax, and you have no conscious control over them.
Under these super-relaxed conditions, the muscles and tissue in your airways can fall back into the airways, partially blocking them. This makes it very much harder for your breathed air to move in and out of your body.
When this occurs, the airflow can't pass through smoothly, but instead flows in a turbulent manner. This turbulent air then acts on the relaxed soft tissue in such a way that the tissue vibrates, thus causing the snoring that can affect the whole household.
There are other things that need to be looked at when trying to stop snoring. For example, your sleeping position, your weight, late meals, late drinking, etc. And as such these need to be addressed when tackling your condition.
You can't ignore those issues, but, one of the main causes of snoring is when your lower jaw (chin) falls back and away from your upper jaw. This is particularly prevalent when you sleep on your back. When this occurs it puts pressure on you throat and, as it is attached to your jaw, your tongue falls into your airway somewhat, thus causing snoring. By preventing this you can reduce the risk of snoring.
Enter the snoring chin strap. This is an aid that you wear during the night whilst you sleep. It's purpose is to retain your lower jaw in its correct position relative to your upper jaw. In this way it prevents your chin, and thus your tongue, from putting pressure on your airway and constricting it. This helps to free up the airway and prevent snoring.
Now, as I hinted at above, depending on the underlying causes of your snoring, the anti snoring chin strap might not work as well for you as for others. You just need to give it a try to find out.
But, there are many other anti snoring aids on the market, such as snore pillows, snoring mouthpieces, nasal strips, sprays, etc. These are certainly worth your consideration too.
